Saturday, April 26, 2003

This event is ideal for the novice driver or novice rider who would like to learn about distance
events and how they are judged and scored.
 

Topics to include:
    -Competitive Condensed Rules
    -Vet checks and how to present your horse
    -Safety check for drivers and equipment
    -Pulse and Respiration
    -Competitive Pace & Scoring
    -Conditioning & Feeding

7am  - Vetting starts 
9am  - Intro and rules/guidelines, and scoresheet 
9:30  - Conditioning 
10:15 - Jacquee - personal comments about the sport 10:30 - Feeding and electrolytes 
11:00 - Equipment and safety checks - 
            the 18 milers will be our demos 
11:30 - hands on pulse and respiration 
12:00 - lunch 1:00- Competitive Riders. 
            Go out in groups of 10 at 10 minute intervals
            Sara Short volunteered to take a group out. 
1:30  - Drivers go out at 5 minute intervals with 12 milers
            first and 6 milers follow Awards around 4:30.

When: Saturday, April 26th, 2003. VET IN-7am.  Clinic starts at     9am.  18 mile drive will start at 11am.  Lunch at NOON.  12 mile novice ride will start at 1 pm.  12 mile drive will start at 1:30pm and 6 mile drive immediately after.  Singles and Multiples are welcome.  Drivers will be released at 5 minute intervals.

Equipment: Helmets are mandatory for riders, drivers and passengers in a carriage.  Spares kits for drivers should include a knife, screw driver, pliers, small hammer, leather punch, hoof pick, wheel wrench, length of rawhide string or wire, halter and lead rope for each horse, cooler or blanket of each horse.  A hames strap if applicable, spare rein or splice, spare trace or splice.  Drivers must carry a whip.

Directions: NOTICE: Hwy 113 from Dane to Lodi will be under construction.
From the South: I 90-94 Lodi exit#119, 4 miles west on Hwy 60, 3rd right turn on Lindsay Rd, proceed 3 miles north, R. Loeb Stables is on the right.
From the North:  I 90-94 to Poynette exit#115, 1 mile west on Hwy CS, first left onto Hwy J, proceed 2.5miles, R.Loeb Stables is on the left.

Pre registration and Fees:  See reverse side for form.  Registrations after April 19, 2003 add $5 Lunch is provided.  Bring warm clothes and your own chairs.  Clinic held in covered arena.  Overnight and daytime outdoor stabling available.  Request a registration form or visit our web-site.
