CLINIC & NOVICE DRIVE/RIDE Saturday, April 23rd, 2005

This event which begins with a competitive clinic
is ideal for the novice driver or novice
rider
who would like to learn about distance events and how they are judged and
scored. Plus, we’ve
added a 25 mile competitive ride for the veterans.
By participating in this event, novice riders/drivers will experience and learn about:
Competitive
riding/driving rules,
Vet checks and how to present your horse,
Safety checks for drivers and equipment, and
How to do pulse and respiration, competitive pace, and
scoring.
When: Saturday, April 23, 2005
7 am to 10 am - Registration & vet checks
10 am to 12 noon – Condensed clinic for novice riders and drivers
12 noon to 1 pm - Lunch

start at 10 am

Mile Novice Ride will start
at 1 pm

Mile Drive will start at 1:30 pm with the 6 Mile Drive following
Singles and Multiples are welcome. Drivers will be released at 5 minute
intervals.
Equipment:
Helmets are mandatory for riders, drivers and
passengers in a carriage. Spares kits for drivers should include a knife, screw
driver, pliers, small hammer, leather punch, hoof pick, wheel wrench, length of
rawhide string or wire, halter and lead rope for each horse, cooler or blanket
for each horse, a hames strap if applicable, spare rein or splice, spare trace
or splice. Drivers must carry a
whip.
Where: Richard Loeb Stable, Lodi, WI, Columbia County. The stable is located between Poynette and Lodi and
can be reached easily from Interstate 90. Using
Exit 115, turn West on County Trunk CS & J.
Follow J 3 miles to the stop sign at the junction of J & V. The drive
to the stable is immediately on your left as you continue on J.
Costs: Preregistration is advised. Audit & lunch - $15
Clinic,
lunch and ride/drive -$40 or $35 with new MDDA membership or MDDA
Certificate. Registrations sent
after April 18, add $5.

Some
outdoor stalls are available for $5. Required trailer fee -$5.
Coggins
Papers are required.
Please bring a copy and the original.
